Gone are the days when we just take a shot or two of our meal, ourselves, or our new shoes and immediately head to Instagram to upload it.

I’m sure you’ve seen a lot of IG accounts and wonder how they take their photos, edit them and make their feed look so “together”. And I’m also positive that you want your feed to look like that. So without further ado, we’ll tell you how IG famous people make their feed look so flawless, cohesive and interesting.

The Basics

Flashlight or Natural Lighting

Keep that flash off and stay away from places with no natural lighting. Great photos are produced when there is enough and natural lighting around you. Colors pop, the photo is bright and most importantly it is sharp but not grainy. When taking photos inside a room, it’s better to do it near a window where natural lighting is abundant. However, make sure that the lighting is not too harsh as it will also affect the look of the photos.

When you find a subject you like, it’s best to at least take 5 photos of different angles so you have options to choose from. Nothing says regret more than a one photo of something you like and it’s a bad one. So be sure to take your time deciding what angles would look good and shoot it from those angles.

Camera Grid

Have you seen photos on Instagram that are crooked? Like a guy showing his new car but then the shot is tilted and it bothers you that you pay less attention to the photo and more on the crookedness? Well folks, this is a common problem, but what most might not realize is that there’s a simple solution to it. Turn on your iPhone’s camera grid. The default camera will display lines that will help you take that perfectly straight shot. And if that still doesn’t work, Instagram offers a straighten feature that works magic on crooked photos.

Edit First Before Using Filter

Before you wrack your brain trying to choose the perfect filter, why don’t you try doing some tweaks first? Try adjusting your photos’ brightness, contrast, saturation, shadows, fade and many other settings on Instagram. In this photo, I only adjusted the fade option and it is already exuding a different kind of vibe. Sometimes, great photos don’t need a whole bunch of filters, a little tweak here and there will make it more perfect and natural looking.

Layering Items

Combining things together can make a boring photo go from zero to bam! A perfectly organized but slightly messy placement of different items can transform a regular shot. Mastering the art of ‘creative messy layering’ can oomph up your Instagram feed. To jump start your creativity, look for famous people whose feed is similar to your taste. From there, you can get ideas how to style your subjects and get artistic shots.

Keep your Background Simple

Many think that the subject of the photo is the only thing that’s important. We’re here to tell you that that’s not true. There are many factors that make a picture great, not just the subject – the background is one of them. The background is as equally important as the subject of the photo. In order to give focus to your subject, your background must be neutral or simple. Some like to pose in front of a colorful wall or a monochromatic one. But one thing they have in common? The background is simple. It’s not distracting and there are no other elements that will take away the focus from the subject. So next time, before you pose, consider your background first.

The Editing Process

Editing App!

This is very important. Whatever app you use to edit your photos will greatly affect the look of your shots. We know how awesome Instagram’s filters are, but if you want even better filters, maybe you should start downloading other editing apps?

Try VSCO cam for example.

There are plenty of filters to choose from. Each one different from the other but are all professional looking. Each filter can give your photo a distinct unique feel that absolutely looks pro.

VSCO cam filters can totally change the feel of your photo with just one tap. It also offers in-app purchases that you should definitely get, especially if your are serious about your Instagram feed. The presets are so worth it you wouldn’t regret a thing.

Editing your pictures in VSCO is as easy as ABC. You tap on a filter, adjust it’s intensity to your liking, and you can even adjust other settings by clicking the wrench icon. The hardest part may be the choosing-which-filter-to-use-because-they-all-look-amazing part. Yeah. We feel that too.

That’s all we have for today. Hopefully you learned a lot from this article and we wish to see your feed rocking on Instagram. Happy ‘Gramming, Danglers!
