Bye

Every girl needs a girl friend’s advice to survive the pain of a broken heart. As a girl who relies on her girls’ guidance about almost everything, I’ve collected ways on how to forget the man (don’t think of him!) who is causing you a lot of heart aches. Hope these help.

Step #1: Stop visiting his Facebook page. If you have the strength to unfriend him, that’s much better because if he’s not your friend there’s no chance that you’d see if he’s in a relationship or not. Less heartaches the better, right?

Step #2: Don’t ogle at his new pictures, especially the ones where he looks directly at the camera. It’s not good for your health, especially for your dear, little heart.

Step #3: Stop waiting for him to go online so you can chat with him, we both know that you don’t have the guts to type in, “Hi.” Okay, so maybe you can type it but there’s no way in hell you’ll press enter. If you can’t do it in person, there’s no way you can do it virtually.

Step #4: Stop dropping not-so-subtle subtle hints about how much you like him on your Facebook statuses and tweets. You know he’s oblivious because if he knows you’re talking about him and he also likes you he would’ve made a move a long time ago.

Step #5: If you know you’ll just squeak like a mouse, don’t even attempt to talk to him. Oh wait! You’re trying to forget him so if you see him, don’t talk to him at all. This is basically just rule number 3.

Step #6: Don’t be so self-conscious. You don’t have to watch how you eat just because he’s around. And you definitely don’t have to think if he’ll like what you’re wearing.

Step #7: Avoid him in any way possible. This might be the ultimate rule of all. Of course, there’s the downside that you might miss him, but seeing him all the time won’t make you forget. You’ll just fall in love deeper and we wouldn’t want that. So next time there’s an event and you know he’s going to be there, don’t make yourself look pretty, wear your PJs and go to bed.

Step #8: Read books or watch movies and TV series. Fall in love with the cute male character. You might think this is a bad idea since you can’t have them anyway but that’s where you’re wrong. With fictional characters, you know where you stand. You won’t harbor false hopes.

Step #9: If you’re having an imaginary relationship with an imaginary him right now, stop it. It’s only going to hurt even more once you realize that that’s all you can ever have – a made up version of him.

Step #10: Make sure that if you make a list of rules like this in order to forget him, do yourself a favor and follow them. Otherwise, you just wasted your time and energy and it will make you look like an idiot. And sort of hypocritical.

Whatever steps you come up with, do not forget to set him free. Set him and the idea of him free. By doing so, you will not only be free of all the heartaches, you will also set yourself free of all the bitterness and failed expectations.
