Whether the animal is as big as an elephant or as small as a dog, animals are often ready to reveal hearts of true compassion and they can easily elicit an equally compassionate response in us humans.

Here are some heartwarming stories about pets and animals, just in case you need a good reason to cry.

A DOG MOURNS AT A CASKET OF HIS MASTER

1

This photo yanked at the heart-strings of millions of Americans. The image of a grieving labrador retriever graced the pages of newspapers all across the country. It was at the funeral of Navy SEAL Jon Tumilson, in which attendees could see his faithful companion, named Hawkeye, lying by the casket. In front of 1,500 mourners at the beginning of the service, Hawkeye ambled up to the front of the room and laid down next to his master — showing his loyalty until the end.

A CAT ADOPTS A SQUIRREL

This baby squirrel was found barely holding on to his life. A family rescued the little guy, took him home and named him Chestnut. The orphaned squirrel very quickly and without question became part of the kitty litter. The kittens were also abandoned, and now the kittens and this rescued squirrel play together in their new rescue home!

AN OWL FINALLY HAS A BABY

6

An owl named Gandolf went through some hard times. It is because, every year, she would lay an egg and wait for it to hatch — but the eggs never did. One day, a goose egg was handed to her — and it proved to be the right match. Most owls would instinctively kill any newborn that didn’t look, smell and feel like their own species, however, the owl didn’t even flinch. She cared for the baby goose as if it were her very own egg.

A DOG STAYS BY HIS MASTER’S GRAVE

2

This shows that the bond between dog and master goes beyond the grave, as evidenced by Capitán’s unyielding loyalty to his master Miguel Guzmán, from Argentina. Capitán, the dog, went missing for a few days, but he was eventually found lying in the cemetery next to Guzmán’s resting place. The remarkable part about this story is that Miguel died in a hospital, and his body was taken to a funeral home far away from where he lived. Moreover, Capitán had never been to the cemetery before.

The first time the funeral director saw Capitán, he arrived at the cemetery all alone. The dog did a few laps through the tombstones before finding his master’s grave — all on his own. Capitán continues to visit his old master every single day, at 6:00 p.m., like clockwork. If this isn’t a display of true dedication, we don’t know what is.

THE GREAT DANE AND HIS BABY CHIMP

3

Molly Badham and Nathan Evans founded a sanctuary for monkeys–one that’s grown into the largest zoo dedicated to primates in the world. It’s a lot of stress and responsibility, so they got some unlikely help from canines! It is a fact that Great Danes, often praised as gentle giants, were the one breed that proved to be the most gentle caregivers to these little orphaned monkeys. Who would’ve thought?

A RABBIT BABYSITS THE KITTENS

4

The two met at an rescued animal shelter in Scotland. When stray kittens arrived at the shelter, it seemed obvious: the cat would mother them. But instead, Summer the female rabbit took over and helped raise the kittens while Elie the cat wouldn’t give them the time of day. And they were close as ever.

Animals are so caring and loving, even with different species. That’s why we should always take care of them and learn from these little deeds of dedication and love that they continuously prove us.

Rudolph is the mind that spawned this mischief. He is purely evil and loves to plot evil things. He pretends for a living. Everyday he goes to work and faces the world like he's the nicest guy ever.
