New Years are the best times to start something new in our lives. That’s why we make promises at the start of it and hope that we make the year an interesting and productive one. Usually we make promises where we have a certain goal to reach like losing weight, learning a new language, or  quitting addictions. However, the problem is that majority of us give up fast resulting to about 80 percent of failed resolutions. But worry not, because today we will be sharing 5 tips that are guaranteed to help you keep on pursuing those resolutions.

1. Always remind yourself

If you’re a creative person, then we advice that you scribble your resolution in a pretty, Tumblr-worthy kind of way and hang it up in your room. That way you always see it when you wake up and you start your day reminded of your promise to yourself. Or if you’re like us who can’t do anything creative with their hands, then please utilize technology. Put your resolution in your phone and let it remind you everyday when you wake up. Getting reminded everyday means less chances of forgetting your resolution and more chances of accomplishing it.

2. Make it a lifestyle

If you want to achieve your goal this 2016 – may it be to eat healthy, to manage stress better or to quit smoking – you have to make it a lifestyle and not just a mere resolution. Those who succeeded with their resolutions often did because they stopped considering it as a task  and more of a part of their lives. When you change the way you live in accordance with your resolution, you immediately achieve half of your goal and the probability that you will triumph is increased by more than half.

You notice those people running in the park everyday, or those who regularly to the gym? That’s not just motivation that keeps them going. There’s also the decision of making it their lifestyle and investing their time, money and thoughts to it.

So remember, to achieve your goals, forget about it being a just “task”.

3. Let the public know

Social media is the best critic/watcher you can have specially if you post almost everything you do online. So if your resolution is to spend less time in the internet, then maybe you should let your social media friends know. That way they can chastise you when they see you sharing kitty videos online or tweeting about your crush. If your resolution is about eating healthy, exercising regularly, reading a new book every month, or avoiding parties, alcohol and cigarettes, social media can also help you with that.

Just let your friends know and I’m sure they’ll be more than happy to watch your every move. I bet they’ll even snap a photo of you when they spot you breaking your new year’s resolution and tag you when they upload it. Friends are sooo good, right?

4. Make it quantifiable

In order to achieve resolution success, make sure that your resolutions are quantifiable, specific and is planned reasonably. For example, if your new year’s resolution is just “to read more books”, you’re probably gonna slack. But add number next to it and a time frame, like read two books every month, and you have a more specific and more convincing goal to attain.

This is similar with planning a healthier lifestyle. Instead of saying you’ll start running to be healthy, maybe you can make it more persuading by saying you’ll run thrice a week for an hour. Sounds more like a plan, huh?

5. Track your progress

Nothing is more effective than tracking your progress as a motivator. Seeing how far you’ve come will definitely give you an incredible wave of motivation that will surely help you go on. For example your goal is to lose some pounds, it is important to take full-body pictures of yourself before you start working out. This way you can compare it to a photo of you after weeks of regular work out. You can repeat it every after two weeks or more so that the difference will be noticeable. This will certainly inspire you to put on those training shoes again and drag yourself back to the gym.

Keeping a journal that helps you track the decisions, actions, and progress you made regarding your resolution will make it easier for you to reprimand yourself when you go against it or motivate you each time you’re able to break new records.
