The idea of waking up early elicits groans and complaints from almost everyone. It’s no secret that staying in bed is a really promising thought. Unfortunately, we have things to do and places to go to everyday and being late to any of them is surely not something we’d love to be.
So if you’re tired of being a grumpy and always late kind of person in the morning, I advice that you continue reading. Because today, we’ll share to you 5 amazingly easy ways to beat your alarm clock everyday… or at least most of the weekdays.
1. Ditch this attitude
Thinking that you can’t will not help you in your journey to becoming an early bird. So the first and probably the most important step is to ditch the I-can’t thinking you have about waking up early. This may be the hardest step because you have to constantly battle with yourself when you wake up to resist the temptation of saying no to getting out of bed. Worry not, because this becomes incredibly easier the more you successfully do it.
2. You snooze, you lose
So you set up your alarm at 6 AM. Good. You went to bed early. Good. Your alarm went off in the morning. Good. You snoozed. No. No. No. That is not how you should do it. And don’t tell me it’s just gonna be for five more minutes. It’s never gonna be just five. Five will become ten, ten will become fifteen, fifteen will become twenty, and before you know it, the morning is almost over. Remember this, if you snooze, you lose.
3. Choose the best alarm clock
This one above is automatically off the list.
This one below is the one for you.
I was surfing the web when I stumbled upon this alarm clock and immediately knew that I will find this and force my future kids to use it. Yep, not me.
So basically, when the alarm goes off, this clock shoots three different puzzle pieces into the air and you have to get out of bed, find the three little pieces and return them to their matching holes before the annoying alarm sound will stop. Great, huh?
4. No weekend breaks!
You’re not gonna like what I’m about to say but trust me when I tell you that it is absolutely necessary. You should continue your sleeping schedule even on weekdays. If you wake up at 6 in the morning every weekdays, then you should wake up every 6AM on weekends as well. Failing to do so will only make it harder to wake up early on Monday again.
Trust me. The only way to be an early bird is to be one everyday. Once you get used to waking up early, you wouldn’t even need to wake up from the irritating sound of your alarm clock again! You’ll just wake up because your body knows it’s time to get up. Got it, mate?
5. Do not bargain
Bargaining will not do you any good and will ruin any progress you’ve made. If deep inside you know that you should get up and start your day early, then by all means, please do. Because at the end of the day, you’ll surely feel bad about breaking the promise you made with yourself regarding waking up early everyday.
There’s no fast route to changing a habit we’ve had since forever. But repeating simple little steps is better than not doing anything about it.
I will end this by reminding you that the best thing we can do is to always start now instead of later.
